Course Description
The aim of the course is to give seafarers who are designated to provide medical care on board ship the essential education and training to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUP) requirements set out in the following:

Function: Medical care

Competence: Provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board. Participate in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.
There are 3 outcomes of the training:

The learner understands how to participate in the co-ordinated provision of medical care to a person on board.

The learner is able to assess and provide care to an ill person on board.

The learner is able to assess and provide care to an injured casualty on board.
Eligibility

All the participants undertaking this training must have completed and been issued with a certificate covering medical first Aid on Board ship (Section A-IV/4-1 of STCW) [MCA Approved MFA is mandatory if the student is applying for the initial CoC].

Participants must submit ENG1 medical certificate, or equivalent, as an indicator of fitness.

Non-Indian participants are required to hold a Valid Student Visa to India to attend the course. For students from countries where embassies do not issue Student Visas for short courses, a Business or relevant visa may be submitted, provided it includes the endorsement: "Maritime Training at HIMT Offshore." Additionally, HIMT will also provide the Visa Letter, if required, upon successful booking of the course.

Details

Candidates need to carry their original passport and CDC on the first day of the course for Identity verification.
